{Hotel Review}: Serenity Resort in Phuket, Thailand

January 9, 2013
What does paradise look like?
For my husband, paradise is a pristine beach surrounded by serene, richly hued, blue water.  It is no wonder he loves going to Phuket.  We stayed at Serenity Phuket twice and were actually introduced to the hotel through a Groupon! This stay was proof that flash sale hotels can turn out to be hidden gems!  This is also an idea if you are looking for a hotel option in this beautiful, Thai island.
Overall Review
The resort is intimate and filled with luxurious touches.  They actually noted that we had stayed there previously and gave us a polo shirt and tote bag (I joke that my husband looks like a bell boy when he wears the shirt). It is a nice, well-run property with good food, service, and facilities.  However the hotel is located at the Southern tip of island in Chalong bay which is a more remote part of the island.  The closest restaurant outside the complex is about a 5 minute walk away and it is about 15 minutes to Patong Beach and Phuket town.  This is a quiet place for couples and families, but I would be curious about other hotels that are more centrally located.

Room

We stayed in the two bedroom sea view suites both times we have stayed here.  They were definitely over 1,000 SF and had patios either directly outside or on the rooftop.  We wish we had come with other friends so we could have used the balconies even more!

Service
We always received friendly, quick responses to our queries whether it was for more water or to borrow a DVD (yes they have a small movie library). The front desk spoke great English and always offered warm smiles.
Pricing
The rate for a random February visit is 13, 229 THB ($434 USD)/night for a seaview suite.  However, we have paid under 6,000 THB/night during fall. These are the most basic suites and we were upgraded to two bedroom suites complete with full kitchen and dining rooms every time. The room was enormous, clean, and worth the price (great for a small family)
Facilities
The pool is divided into a deeper section and kids section with slightly warmer weather.  It was never crowded at the pool and there was a great selection of pool chairs and lounges.   The breakfast always had a nice selection of hot food selections including an omelette bar, fried rice or noodles, and a meat.  The food in the restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced as well.  The grounds were always clean and in good condition.

Oh, that view. I have to agree with your hubby. There are few things more relaxing than a stretch of ocean and a clear blue sky.

You just made my day and are also inspiring me to be a better photographer this year. You are as sweet at those caramel filled, cream cheese topped chocolate cupcakes (i.e. ridiculously sweet and awesome!)

WOW! This is exactly what I imagined paradise to look like. My aunt and uncle visited thailand a few years ago and I think they stayed at the shangri-la? So did you decide, 8 or 12 altuzarra glasses?

That looks and sounds amazing. I’m not sure I’ll ever make it to that side of the world, but who knows. I’ll have to try and keep this in mind.
