Fashion Highlight: Olivia Palermo and Oscar de la Renta for the Outnet

March 6, 2013

What do you do after you have dressed Jackie O?

Well if you are Oscar de la Renta, you keep on designing beautiful clothing (and it has been over 50 years!)  Olivia Palermo is one of the fashion icons for our generation and she has paired with the iconic brand for his capsule collection for the Outnet.  The socialite most definitely has style and you can tell that she loves having fun with her clothing.  So this pairing seems like a natural way to breathe in a youthful vibe into Oscar’s new line.

The collection is full of classic pieces that will look as good now as they will in 50 years – think bouclé-tweed jackets, printed silk floral dresses, and sateen coats with floral adornments.  Nothing is too edgy, but every piece reflects the signature elegance and lustrous prints of his original collection.  While this floral print faille shirt dress is gorgeous and quite versatile, it is still a few times more expensive than the floral shirt dress in this collection.  I’m a bit disappointed that the prices in this collection are also still high (don’t think you’ll get Prabal Gurung for Target prices here), but I still have my eyes on a few of the tweed pieces and hope they go on sale.

This a collection worth checking out and I think Jackie O would be proud.

Here are a few highlights from the collection (funny though that most pieces worn by Olivia in the ad campaign are sold out!):

Everything in this collection is exquisite, I fully agree, it will still be just as stylish in years to come, a pity about the price tag. Love the navy and pink floral dress and the combination of red and fuchsia, so bold!

I really love his prints! And I didn’t know that Oliva was a socialite even though I’ve heard of her name a bunch of times.
